Jen "Burnyard" Burney #23
Albuquerque, known as the “Land of Enchantment,” refers to its breathtaking beauty, rich history and Jen Burney-Burnyard-Workout Geist. Nerdy and shy as a youngster, or so she says, Jen blossomed into the affectionate and enthusiastic woman we all know and love. Jen’s openness, passion for life, brilliance, and beautiful big smile makes you gravitate to her. How did this lovely lady come to play frisbee? Originally a soccer star at Harvard, Jen started grad school at Stanford and began her Superfly adventure shortly after. Jen created a reputation on the field for being a relentless cutter, tenacious defender and strong leader; subsequently, adding to the zG powerhouse in 2008. When I met Jen in 2009 and observed how she played, I recall telling myself: I need to step up, I can play better, and I can work harder. Once a week in 2009, zG might not have felt Jen’s sweetness 45 minutes into one of her brutal workouts. Jen made us all fitter, faster, and more confident not only with her workouts, but her enduring support.Today, Jen is healing up from an old injury and enjoying her GORGEOUS son Gabi who was born in July! You see, not only did Jen find frisbee at Stanford, but also the love of her life. She just happened to “wander into her office trying to find a talk” just like she happened to wander into all of our hearts. I feel honored to have the opportunity to write about such a special and impressive woman.
