Liz "Docta" Cassel #18
After 6 years in the Bay Area, and 5 years tearing up turf with Stanford Superfly (pocketing 3 national championships along the way), Liz "the Queen of the" Cassel came to zG in 2009 primed to make her mark. Along with co-anchoring zG's "baller" line (see: Krista McDonald), "the Doctor" is clinical about creating space, playing fiery D, and -- her trademark -- finding some way to hit the ground on every single catch.
Had ultimate not worked out for her, we have faith that Cassel would have had no trouble nailing down a spot in Beyonce's "Single Ladies" video. As it stands, however, Liz is secure enough in her wicked dance moves to pursue a different day job as a world-class geologist. Currently a Professor in Earth and Environment at Franklin and Marshall College, she can be found inspiring undergrads, doing research in beautiful places like the Sierras, and making the long-distance haul to zG events. Doing all of this -- while charming the pants off of all of us with her oversized heart, ebullient spirit, and contagious laugh -- would be too much to handle for anyone else, but it's all totes NBD for EJC!
