You know when things start to click? This is what the Labor Day Championships weekend was all about for zG. The schedule was nice to us Saturday morning: first and second round byes. This gave us some time for chalk talk and a walk through before the first game. We played a close first half with Fury, though we lost eventually 15-8. We then closed out the day with 15-10 wins over Regionals rivals Traffic and Schwa. On Saturday night Maggie's family cooked up a fish taco feast and we were lulled to sleep by the sound of the fog horn (every 23 seconds). Sunday morning we won a foggy game against Safari 15-12 and a slightly less foggy game against Molly Brown 15-11. In semi-finals, we matched up against Riot and played our most cohesive game yet. Though we lost 11-12, we are hungry for more! The USAU Series is up next!

Dear Dolby Employees!
As part of the company picnic tomorrow, get ready to be immersed in Ultimate (sometimes called Ultimate Frisbee)!
Zeitgeist, a Bay Area club women's Ultimate team, will be leading any willing employees in a variety of Ultimate skills activities. All levels welcome, especially beginners who want to learn what Ultimate is all about! Activities will include learning multiple frisbee throws, throwing length and accuracy contests, jumping contests, scrimmaging, and more. Prizes will be awarded including frisbees, wristbands, jerseys, and shorts! Bring clothes you can move comfortably in and sneakers, or cleats if you're really serious. But no matter what you're wearing, Zeitgeist is ready to teach you!

With the fantastic competition from across the country in attendance, ECC was a great setting for zG to get back in the groove of the season. After playing Traffic, Brute Squad, Schwa, and Pop on Saturday, we ended the day with a 2-2 record. We finished the weekend with 4 wins and 3 losses after matching up against Underground, Fury, and Nemesis on Sunday. Off field highlights included river dipping and the Zeitgeist traditional Heeeeeey Raffle.

A huge thanks to Tessa for hosting zG in Chico! After taking the rest of July after Worlds off, the team was excited to be back together, especially since the retreat involved swimming in water holes.
Player profiles are slowly making their way to the roster page so keep checking back. Also, here are the rest of the photos from Worlds.

Just like that, a week of playing in blistering heat and torrential downpour, meeting tons of foreign teams, taking public transit all over Prague, trading jerseys, and trying to decipher the local language is over. Results and stats can be found here!

With the end of Worlds, it is time for zG to say farewell to our Worlds-only players: Smack, Patty, Ashley, Kath, Jamie, Bagby, and Bucket. We wish you the best in your upcoming frisbee or non-frisbee endeavors and we already miss you a lot!

Cal States happened this past weekend and we have another 3rd place tournament finish under our belts. We're lucky here in the Bay Area; we get to return to Santa Cruz in September for the very competitive Labor Day tournament. On Saturday, zG met Slackjaw, LAW, and Safari for the first time this season. Our D players were doing their job so we focused on offensive efficiency. We finished off the day with a Riot rematch. Zeitgeist took half 7-6, but let down in the second half to end the day with a 3-1 record. Sunday morning we played Knockout, the new San Diego team, Fury, and finally Safari again in the 3/4 game. Next up, Worlds!

zG is back from Austin with a 3rd place finish with a squad of only 15 (we missed you, the rest of zG)! Our rookies Christina, Julia, Speedy, Ashley, and Judy totally ran the show. Ready for pod workouts starting tomorrow despite sore muscles, sunburns, and BBQ overload.
